What is the Difference between Core type and Shell type transformer?

1	Winding surround the core.	Core surrounding the winding.
2	Cylindrical winding is used.	Sandwich or Disc type winding is used.
3	Natural cooling is possible because winding is placed on the outer limb.	Natural cooling is not possible because winding is placed on the central limb.
4	It has only one magnetic Circuit.	It has two magnetic Circuit
5	Windings can be easily removed hence maintenance and repair easy.	Windings can’t be easily removed hence maintenance and repair is not easy.
6	It has two limbs.	It has three limbs.
7	Application:- Core type X’er is used for low voltage X’er.	Application:- Shell type X’er is used for High voltage X’er.
